Focus in quality assessment of iron ore is the content of total iron (TFe). Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technology possesses the merits of rapid, in situ, real-time multielement analysis for iron ore, but its application to quantitative TFe content is subject to interference of the iron matrix effect and the lack of suitable data mining tools.

Pollution From Mining

The water pollution is caused by acid that drains from the "Iron Mountain" mine, known as acid drainage. Acid drainage is serious stuff. With a pH value of 0, the groundwater near the "Iron Mountain" has been found to be 10,000 times more acidic than battery acid (this is VERY acidic). It's the highest concentration of acid in the world.

importance because very few lump ores comply with the quality requirements of the blast furnace. Alternative quality feeds are limited in supply. This applies for pellets. The sintering converts fine-sized raw material, iron ore, coke breeze, limestone, mill scale, and flue dust into an agglomerated product (sinter) at suitable size for charging

solution to reduce air pollution by mining iron ore

The production of iron ore is 5.50 million tones per year. Due to massive extraction of iron ore, it pollutes air, water and soil. When iron in solution reaches the water table it pollutes the ground water, while dissolved iron in surface water reacts with soil to cause soil erosion and effect the soil profile and sometimes minor particles of ...
